There are several different scenarios that UserTime can monitor. Here are some examples:
UserTime can be used to record the computer activity of your employees. If your employees share computers you can keep an accurate record of who is using the computer and when. Because it monitors each user separately you can review usage statistics and graphs with each staff member. We recommend that you are open with your staff about UserTime. Use it as a tool to help review usage rather than a covert monitoring system.
You can use UserTime to keep a record of the time you spend working on a project. By starting the custom counter when you are begin working on the project and checking the "only count active time" checkbox you can record the time spent on the project. If you make a cup of coffee there is no need to remember to stop the timer as it will automatically stop when you stop working. You can also compare the Logged in counter to see how long you have been working on the project active or not!
By setting the inactive time to a short time such as 5 seconds you can use UserTime to measure your productivity. By comparing the logged in time to the active time you can get an indication of the amount of time you spend actively using your computer.
UserTime is a great tool for keeping tabs on your (or your children's computer) usage. By installing UserTime on your home computer you can keep track of each person's usage. If you are monitoring your children's usage we suggest you openly discuss how much time they should be spending per day on the computer, then take advantage of UserTime as a tool to help keep track of that time. You can review the graphs each week to see when and for how long the computer has been used.
